Shirley Valentine was once an anti-establishment rebel, but now that she is a middle-aged housewife she finds herself suffocating under the banality of her suburban routine. When her best friend, Jane, wins an all-expenses-paid vacation to an exotic country, Shirley is given the opportunity to travel to faraway places and begins to see her future in a different light. Written by award-winning playwright Willy Russell, Shirley Valentine is a hilarious and poignant story about one woman’s struggle to reinvigorate her life.
